One of the best ways to get around Taipei is through the MRT – it’s cheap, it’s fast, it’s connected to most of Taipei, and above all, it’s hassle-free.
Getting a Taiwan tourist visa in the Philippines is fairly easy, especially if you’re employed or have a steady income.
Since we booked our plane tickets a year before the actual travel dates, we had ample amount of time to look for a nice yet affordable place to stay for five days and five nights. After months of browsing through Agoda deals and Airbnb listings, we came across Kenny’s New York Apartment, conveniently located in Taipei’s Wanhua District–where Ximending is.

Last November, we, along with our bestfriends (aka boyfriends), traveled to the land of xiao long bao (we made that up)–thanks to an impulsive promo fare booking done almost a year ago. In 5 days and 5 nights, we were able to (in no particular order) visit the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, shop at Ximending, try the original Din Tai Fung in Xinyi, climb Elephant Mountain, feed our artsy souls at Huashan1914 Creative Park, explore Northern Taiwan, visit a national park, walk around Beitou and eat our hearts out at the Shilin Night Market. All these in under P20,000, including airfare, visa application fees, taxes, etc.
